In August 2024, the UK's National Space Operations Centre (NSpOC) monitored rising space risks. They tracked 89 uncontrolled re-entries and 2,137 potential satellite collisions, both significant increases. A rocket body also fragmented, producing 250+ debris pieces. Space weather was active, with solar flares causing radio blackouts and geomagnetic storms that may have impacted satellites. SpaceX launched 112 more Starlink satellites, contributing to a total increase of 595 registered space objects.
