Skills & Outreach Group
We are the Space North East England Skills & Outreach Group - a dynamic coalition of organisations collaborating to build the region’s new space age.
Our mission is to connect, inspire, and open up opportunities. We work together to:
Address the STEM skills gap
Increase local employment in the space sector
Bring space science, innovation, and opportunity directly to our communities.
By aligning outreach, skills development and public engagement we connect and amplify the constellation of work already happening across the region - making it more visible, accessible, and meaningful for everyone.
Together, we’re creating a joined-up pipeline from classroom to career, and helping ensure the North East becomes a national leader in space.
Current membership includes:
Airbus, Ambasat, Durham County Council, Durham University, Kielder Observatory, Life Science Centre, Newcastle University, New College Durham, North East Institute of Technology, Northumbria University, RTC North, DU Spaceflight, Space & Satellite Applications Catapult, Sunderland University, Teesside University, Tin Arts, and a range of independent practitioners, educators and creatives.
