A place with a can-do mindset.

We are good at making things happen

Our ecosystem is full of not only original thinkers but also engineers, manufacturers and digital and data extraordinaires who are used to working with complex problems. We just roll up our sleeves and get jobs done.

That is why large companies from a range of sectors such as Leonardo, CGI, Nissan, GSK and Hitachi choose us. We have our own home-grown successful local companies too such as SAGE, Greggs and space businesses like Filtronic and Raytheon NORSS.

And we have ambition.

We are shooting for the stars – we are aiming to grow the number of jobs in the space sector in the North East to 10,000 by 2030.

Why locate your business here?

More than 1300 people are employed in the space sector here, with 52,000 STEM students at the region’s five universities – Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside, so we have both the experience and the potential.

We offer savings on operating costs of more than 30% compared to London, and is the second least expensive location to hire space-related staff in the UK.

We can also offer some of the UK’s most cost-effective Grade A office space – less than a quarter the price of London, and 40% cheaper than Scotland.

In addition, the North East is served by Newcastle International Airport and Teesside International Airport, with direct flights to fourteen UK cities, as well as over 40 cities internationally.
