This month’s session is fully online, and we’re pleased to welcome two speakers offering perspectives on regional skills development, apprenticeship engagement and global workforce mobility within high‑growth sectors including space, aerospace and defence.

Aisha Munro, MSc, AMRSB – Lecturer, East Durham College

Aisha will introduce East Durham College and highlight the significant recent investment the college has made in its clean room facilities. She will showcase the wide range of apprenticeship courses on offer and discuss how the college is working to engage with local SMEs to support their apprenticeship schemes. This session will provide valuable insight into how regional employers can access tailored training pathways, facilities and partnership opportunities to strengthen their skills pipeline.

Kelly Hardman – Director, Fragomen LLP

Fragomen is a global leader in immigration and workforce mobility strategies, supporting organisations operating in delivery‑critical and highly regulated sectors including space, aerospace, energy, defence and critical infrastructure. Kelly will outline how Fragomen helps organisations navigate talent availability, mobility restrictions and regulatory compliance across international programmes, enabling secure and seamless workforce deployment in more than 170 countries.

She will explore Fragomen’s work in the space sector, including strategic workforce planning, skills pipeline development, and cross‑border deployment for security‑sensitive roles. Kelly will also share insight into Fragomen’s contributions to UK government and industrial strategy discussions, including evidence cited in the House of Lords report on the UK Space Economy. With a strong focus on innovation, data analytics and technology‑enabled risk modelling, Fragomen’s approach supports organisations to anticipate workforce challenges, design future‑proof models, and maintain compliance in fast‑moving environments.

Whether you’re looking to connect with peers, learn about skills and workforce development, or explore opportunities for collaboration, this session will provide a valuable update on regional capability and the wider ecosystem supporting the UK’s future workforce.
