Inspiring the Next Generation of Space Talent

On Monday 8th, the future of the North East's space sector was on full display at our Space Careers Event, where students from across the region came together to explore the exciting opportunities available within one of the UK's fastest-growing industries.

With ambitious plans to create 10,000 space-related jobs across the North East by 2030, developing the next generation of skilled professionals is more important than ever. The event provided young people with the chance to hear directly from experts across industry, academia and government, offering valuable insights into the many pathways into the space sector.

Representatives from organisations including Lockheed Martin, Filtronic and the UK Space Agency shared their career journeys, discussed the skills employers are looking for, and highlighted the wide range of opportunities available, from engineering and technology to research, innovation and business.

Throughout the afternoon, students demonstrated enthusiasm, curiosity and a genuine passion for the sector, asking thoughtful questions and engaging with speakers about their own future careers. Their ambition reflected the strength of the talent pipeline emerging across the region.
