ree

The Airbus Geospatial and Secure Connectivity Solutions team, based in Newcastle, has been recognised for their outstanding contribution to the North East’s growing space ecosystem — taking home the Space Pioneer Award at the North East and Yorkshire RTC North STEM Awards.

The award celebrates the team’s exceptional work engaging with schools, universities, and regional partners — including the Life Science Centre, local STEM networks, and the regional space clusters — to inspire the next generation of innovators and strengthen collaboration across the region.

By combining their expertise in geospatial intelligence and secure satellite connectivity with a passion for outreach, Airbus is helping to build a thriving, inclusive space community in the North East. Their efforts perfectly reflect the aims of CUSP – the Community for Space Prosperity – to connect, inspire and grow.

The RTC North STEM Awards shine a spotlight on individuals, organisations, and initiatives making an exceptional impact in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics across the North East and Yorkshire. The event brings together educators, businesses, and community partners to celebrate the power of collaboration in nurturing future talent and advancing innovation. This year’s relaunch of the awards highlighted not only technical achievement but also a shared commitment to inspiring young people and supporting the region’s economic growth through STEM engagement.

The awards evening was a fantastic celebration of the region’s STEM excellence, highlighting the innovation, creativity, and dedication driving progress across the North East and Yorkshire. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists who are shaping the future of science and technology in our region.
