About the event

Metrology plays a crucial role in the manufacturing and quality control of composite materials. From defect detection to process optimisation, advanced metrology techniques ensure composite manufactures produce high quality, safe and reliable components.

As advanced composite materials continue to revolutionise industries including aerospace, automotive, marine, energy, construction and defence, new emerging materials must be thoroughly tested before they move to market. In our role as the UK’s National Metrology Institute (NMI), we establish validated test methods and internationally recognised measurement standards to facilitate innovation and address industry needs.

For our next Manufacturers Measurement Network (MMN) event, we are hosting a lunchtime webinar to delve deep into the metrology of composite materials.

The webinar will cover the National Physical Laboratory’s (NPL) general composite materials testing capabilities with a focus on measurements for recycled composites and carbon fibres, mechanical property measurements at cryogenic temperatures and high strain rate testing.
