We have a unique opportunity for a Cluster Development Manager to join the team in Business Durham for a period of 12 months (this may be extended should further funding be achieved).


Business Durham has been funded by the UK Space Agency to stimulate and grow the space and satellite applications cluster in the North East. This work builds on the momentum achieved by the North East Satellite Applications Centre of Excellence, led by Business Durham on behalf of the Satellite Applications Catapult since 2014.


This sector which consists of over 40 companies in the North East contributed £129m to the regional economy and employed just over 1300 employees in 2022.


WHAT IS INVOLVED?

The role of this post is to engage with the space community and key adjacent sectors including SMEs, large companies, academia and other stakeholders regionally and nationally with the aim of growing the sector in the North East.

The post will involve working with businesses to support their needs, connecting them for other support within the network, and identifying opportunities for collaboration. Other key elements of the role will also involve identifying key funding sources and supporting businesses with their applications, working with regional partners in building their capabilities and managing events and communications.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and/or be able to demonstrate extensive relevant experience.

You will have experience of engaging, developing and managing business relationships together with demonstrable experience on successfully delivering multiple-year, multi-partner projects.

The ability to build relations and establish trust with a proactive and positive approach to customer care is essential.

HYBRID WORKING

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
